Dave at the Supreme Cat Show 2003

Supreme Best of Variety British Kitten 2003 - Supreme Best of Breed Colourpointed Kitten 2003

What an absolutely, fantastic, overwhelming, wonderful and surperb day we had at the Supreme Cat Show on Saturday the 29th November 2003. No sooner had we settled 'Baby David' into his Supreme accommodation the judging started for his Supreme British Shorthair Colourpointed Kitten Male, Open class. This is an Open class for Male British Shorthair Kittens who have qualified by winning their Open Classes in Championship Shows around the country throughout the Show year .

Our beautiful British Shorthair, Male Lilac Colourpointed Kitten 'Gargantua Dreamcatcher' (what a great name, he certainly caught the dream for us) won his Supreme Open class over other award winning Colourpointed British Shorthair Kittens from all over the country. He also went on to win the Supreme Best of Breed British Shorthair Colourpointed Kitten 2003.

He then went forward to the Supreme Best of Variety British Kitten 2003 judging ring at about 1430 hrs. We joined the crowd to watch Baby David being judged. The Best of Variety judge was Mrs V Brooks, one of the senior British Shorthair judges. She judged each Best of Breed Kitten (there were 11 kittens taking part) one by one. When she had judged all eleven kittens she said she had narrowe it down to 4 kittens, one of which was Baby David. She then had 4 stewards to hold the 4 kittens in a row, then she went back and judged each kitten again. She said it was a very difficult class, as all the kittens were worthy winners. Then she said made her decision, and to our surprise and great joy she chose the Colourpointed Kitten (Baby David).

Then at about 1600 hours, he then went onto the stage to be judged for the Supreme Kitten of the Year 2003.

The judging was done by three of the country's top senior judges. One by one the 7 Group winners, i.e. Best in Show Longhair, Semi-Longhair, British Shorthair, Foreign, Burmese, Oriental and Siamese, were bought onto the stage to be judged by each of the judges. Baby David was third to be judged. He went to each of the three judges and they made their points score for him. Alas he was beaten by the Maine Coon Kitten. Congratulations to the Maine Coon Kitten and its owners. It was a hard choice to make as they were all lovely kittens.

Looking back on the day it was the one of most exciting (but very tiring) day we have ever had showing cats and one which we think will be hard to beat.
